“ I've been wanting to check out Hilltop for the longest time and it was everything I imagined it to be and more! You will only find street parking at this location but there is plenty all around the block if you get there early around 10. The inside is beautiful and spacious. The second floor can be used for private events and parties as well. There were a few items I was eyeing on the menu but after talking it through with a staff member, I ended up getting the honey lavender latte and the breakfast burrito. Both were really good! The lavender latte was a little bit on the sweeter end for me but overall a drink I would definitely get again. The breakfast burrito didn't have any meat in there and tbh I forgot to add it in but I actually loved it as it was. Breakfast burritos can easily feel very heavy on the body but this felt light yet filling. I also love the salsa verde that it comes with. The cashier was also super kind and gave me a discount because it was my first time there. So sweet! It definitely got busier around 11-12 with lots of people waiting in line and for seating. ”
“ Love the coffee and food here! Got the latte with pistachio milk and tatertots, both were so good! Will try to come back before i skirt off and leave town tomorrow! ”
“ So no trip to LA would be complete without supporting your favorite celeb. And for me that's Issa Rae. Like a lot of millennials I came up with Issa on her web series. Atmosphere: Great coffee shop to work, meet up, or just chill. Staff: Super chill and kind. Coffee: I got a latte with their pistachio milk. It was good but no different than any other independent coffee shop. Food: I got the soul bowl. Overall it was delicious. But underwhelming. The portion was perfect. But the build of the bowl could of been better. Here is the big back commentary: The base was grits. They cooked them perfectly, but too much overwhelms the plate. Then the greens was perfect but not enough and the same for the corn. Then it comes with one small poarched egg. Because I had a similar meal in Detroit, I feel like this could be elevated with more vegetables and protein. A protein suggestion would be a brisket, the fried chicken they already serve, black eyed pea fritter for vegans or something else. The flavors were on point thro. ”
“ Wish I took more photos of this place because it is nice. Two stories with the counter at the bottom with plenty of seats. The fried chicken was bomb if you do happen to be hungry while studying and the drinks here are solid. Would love to comeback to study here and lock-in. ”
“ Highly recommend the banging breakfast sandwich (very filling with the brioche bun). Of course the beignets always steal the show though! ”
“ A friend found a few coffee shops to check out and this one looked so cool so had to come check it out! It was a busy day with a block party/fair going on the next street over but we were able to find street parking. There's also a parking garage close by. Inside was busy but the line wasn't too long and we were able to order fairly quickly. I love the ambiance inside and the loft with extra seating. This is a great spot to hang out with friends and just chill. I had an iced latte and breakfast sandwich. Both were good! The price is a little more than some other spots I've been to but not unreasonable. ”
“ Really cute coffee shop. Parking is on the street so that can be a bother at times. Friendly service and good atmosphere. They have unique lattes of all sorts. They are on the pricier side. I spent $46 - that included a $6 tip. Lavender latte- $6.75 Breakfast sandwich - $13 Bowl - $16 Extra 5% service charge. The bowl was good and the collared greens had a unique flavor. You could add shrimp for $6. I didn't. The sandwich wasn't worth it. It was all bread. The egg was so thin. I think there should have been more egg in it. Lavender latte was good, they make their own syrup in house. I'd come back, but maybe just lattes. ”
